What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
The role of Counselling & Psychotherapy is to facilitate and empower clients to regain control over their lives. Counselling works in a way which respects the client’s values, personal resources and capacity for self-determination. The aim is to encourage clients to take control of their lives.
At Solace Counselling and Psychotherapy I believe that all persons are self-regulating, self – actualising and responsible for themselves.
Working mainly in a Person Centered manner, counselling is non-directive and is focused on helping clients to explore their thoughts and feelings empowering them to realise their nature more fully.
Counselling / Psychotherapy is for anybody. It can be of great support in times of crisis or change as well as for personal growth and resolving past issues.
As a member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) I work within their ethical framework at all times and use their underlying values to guide my work.
IACP CORE VALUES:
The underlying values which guide our work are as follows:
Integrity
Respect and inclusivity
Valuing the individual
Professional and Ethical.
